The goal of the Regional Council of Southwest Finland and Valonia is to build Southwest Finland into a forerunner province of circular economy.
Valonia is the service centre for the sustainable development and energy affairs of Southwest Finland. It operates as part of the Regional Council of Southwest Finland. The task of the Council and Valonia is to build a carbon neutral, responsible province, which operates in accordance with the principles of circular economy. These organisations have drawn up a circular economy road map for Southwest Finland.
The Council and Valonia are active project operators and provincial lobbyists, as well as disseminators and communicators of regional information. Circular economy is also being promoted regionally at events arranged among the various operators. One example of such an event is the natural resource forum. In turn, data collection related to provincial planning and the process of preparing and monitoring it promotes the area use potential for circular economy.
